The 31-year-old winger showered the Colombian with praise in the aftermath of Sunday night’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon, during which time Martinez turned in another brilliant performance despite failing to get on the scoresheet.

Martinez pulled off an audacious assist for hat-trick hero Cristian Tello’s opening goal, producing a volleyed backheel flick that set the Barcelona loanee free to break the deadlock and open up the Primeira Liga title race following another resounding win at Estadio do Dragao.

Tello’s treble was impressive, but it was the South American marksman that drew the majority of plaudits, with Quaresma paying tribute to the scintillating form he’s shown for Julen Lopetegui’s side this term.

“He is at the level of being one of the best strikers in the world,” the Portuguese midfielder was quoted saying by the Daily Mail. “Jackson has the ability to play at any club in the world in any championship.

“He is the man who will decide his own future, but he deserves to have the world’s top clubs looking at him.”

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has been credited with an interest in bringing the international team-mate of Radamel Falcao to Old Trafford, having been dazzled by his spectacular return of 63 goals in 82 appearances for Porto.

Arsene Wenger has also been mooted as an admirer of Martinez, and haspreviously spoken of the positive impact the player could have in the Premier League, suggesting he has both the physical and technical attributes to thrive in England’s top-flight.

Asked about the amazing rainbow flick that Martinez delivered against Sporting, Quaresma insisted he was not surprised about the array of skill that continues to be showcased by Martinez.

“To us, the people who play with him, this is not new,” he added. “Jackson is a star. We are not at all surprised by the things that he can do.

“We train with him every day and we know all about his talent and his technical ability. It is a pleasure to play with a player like that.”

GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE PREMIER LEAGUE?

It remains to be seen whether Martinez can actually replicate his fantastic goalscoring form in Portugal in a more competitive league, but based on Quaresma’s comments the former Chiapas star has everything in his locker to be a revelation were he to join either Arsenal or Manchester United in the future.

Martinez has already made clear his desire undertake a new challenge upon the completion of the 2014/15 campaign, so don’t be surprised to see a clutch of top European clubs challenging for his signature when the transfer window reopens this summer.
